Visiting Parliament

Parliament is open to all members of the UK public and overseas visitors. You can watch laws being made, attend debates and committees, tour the buildings, or climb the Clock Tower.

UK visitors
UK residents can attend debates, watch judicial hearings and committees, take a tour of Parliament and climb Big Ben.

Overseas visitors
Overseas visitors can attend debates, watch judicial hearings and committees, and tour Parliament during the Summer Opening.

Educational visits
There are a number of programmes for different student age groups in addition to teacher training days.

Attend debates
Visit the public galleries in both Houses and watch debates for free on current issues or proposed new laws.

Visit the Parliamentary Archives
The Parliamentary Archives holds millions of records from both Houses and other historical material relating to Parliament.

Watch judicial hearings
The House of Lords acts as a Supreme Court of Appeal for the UK. Anyone can attend a judicial hearing.

Watch committees
A large part of the work of the House of Commons and the House of Lords happens in committees, made up by smaller groups of MPs or Lords.

Summer Opening
During the Summer Opening, UK residents and overseas visitors can buy tickets to tour Parliament.

Climb the Clock Tower (Big Ben)
UK residents can arrange a tour of the Clock Tower through their local MP. Overseas visitors cannot currently visit the tower.

Parliament is open and accessible to all visitors with disabilities.

Parliament is located in Westminster, in the centre of London. All major forms of public transport, many of which are wheelchair accessible, serve it.
