Parliament for Students

Students wanting to learn more about Parliament should have a look at the Parliamentary Education Unit's excellent home page: Explore Parliament.  There is also a junior version for under-12s: Junior Parliament.

Various resources are available on request from the Parliamentary Education Unit.

As part of the London String of Pearls Millennium Festival, the Houses of Parliament are staging a special exhibition for the year 2000.  The Voters of the Future exhibition is designed especially with young people in mind but has plenty of interest for all the family.  It looks at the past, present and future of Parliament: what it is, what it does and how it is relevant to daily life.  The exhibition will be in Westminster Hall, the oldest part of the palace of Westminster which celebrated its 900th anniversary last year.  It will be open to the general public on Mondays to Saturdays from 1 August to 15 September.  No prior booking will be needed and entry will be via St Stephen's Entrance.

BBC OnlineThe BBC website provides a vast array of resources including the Education: Schools Online service, with many facilities aimed at schoolchildren between the ages of 4 and 16.
