We are
delighted to announce that Stephen

the Sir Harry Smith Community College,
Whittlesey on Saturday, beating strong
competition from the other 5 candidates.

Regiment of Fusiliers and has fought two

particular enjoys rugby, jazz piano and
is a qualified sky diver. Steve and his

The
selection process was culminated in an
Open Primary where six finalists were
presented to party members plus any
elector, regardless of political
affiliation, at a meeting held at Sir
Harry Smith College, Whittlesey. All
candidates were questioned in a “Jeremy
Paxman type interview” by John Elworthy,
the Editor Elect of the Cambs Times/Wisbech
Standard. This was followed by
questions from the audience and a short
summing up by the individual
candidates. A ballot was conducted and
the first candidate to receive more than
50% of the votes cast was declared the
winner.
Members of
the North East Cambridgeshire
Conservative Association present then
endorsed the decision of the Primary
selection.
