“Give the
farmers their money by Christmas”-
Malcolm Moss MP signs EDM 13 on Single
Farm Payments.
Malcolm Moss
MP today joined other MP’s in calling on
the Government to give all English
farmers 80% of the money from Single
Farm Payments, still owed to them as a
result of the Government’s bungling
distribution process, by Christmas.
North East
Cambridgeshire’s farmers have recently
experienced unprecedented hardships as
Blue-tongue and Foot and Mouth were
added to the woes of English farming.
Malcolm Moss said of these troubled
times; “Single Farm Payments came about
so that farmers would be able to enjoy
greater control over their businesses,
allowing them to find individual ways of
protecting themselves from
uncontrollable natural factors. The
Government has a responsibility to
guarantee that factors within our
control like administering the Single
Farm Payment scheme go off without a
hitch”.
The
Government’s administrative errors in
handing out the payments stand to cost
the tax payer £348 million. This is
typical of a Prime Minster who David
Cameron this week said “tries to control
everything, but cannot run anything”.
Malcolm Moss MP said “how many more
Whitehall blunders and resignations are
there going to be before, in this case
the farmers get what they deserve; we
are now in a ludicrous position where
the farmers don’t have their money and
the tax payer has to pay more, bungling
Brown needs to come up with the goods
and I hope signing EDM 13 on Single Farm
Payments will put some much needed
pressure on him”.
Early Day
Motion 13 on Single Farm Payments has
been proposed by James Paice,
Conservative MP for neighbouring
constituency South East Cambridgeshire.
Malcolm Moss was today pleased to
support his fellow Cambridgeshire MP
stating; ‘although this is not just a
problem in Cambridgeshire I am proud
that Cambridgeshire are leading the
fight for farmers rights and hope that
the combined pressure of Conservatives
in Cambridgeshire will instigate action
on the part of the Government”.
EDM 13 on
Single Farm Payments calls for the
Government to help farmers to have ‘the
financial certainty they need to
continue producing the best food in the
world’. These sentiments are shared by
Malcolm Moss who is now urging other
MP’s to sign up to the EDM and ensure
that farmers do not become the latest
victims of Whitehall mismanagement.
