Government pledge “British jobs for
British people” - endorsing the views of
Malcolm Moss MP
Within
weeks of a speech on migrant workers in
North East Cambs given by Malcolm Moss
MP in the House of Commons, Prime
Minister Gordon Brown has pledged
“British jobs for British people” and is
set to a launch a massive shake up of
immigration laws.
A
single new Immigration Bill which will
scrap the existing Immigration Acts is
expected in the Queens speech this
coming autumn. The Act will order
employers to check the nationality of
every new worker and make it illegal to
give someone a job without checking they
have a work permit, with fines of up to
£10 000. Extra resources will also be
pumped into a new border police and
small firms may also get a tax incentive
to hire British workers.
It has
also been revealed by research that
migrant workers are being handed 1 in 20
of Britain ’s council houses and
promoted to the front of the queue.
There are 4 million social houses in
Britain but 1.5 million families are on
the waiting list for homes. The
Government have admitted that 5% of the
houses that become available go to
foreign nationals.
Malcolm
Moss MP says:
“We
must be concerned by the fact that many
Brits feel they are being excluded from
the jobs market by migrant workers under
cutting them. It is imperative that we
now give assurances to the British
people that we will be hiring them first
and equipping them with the skills and
tools to find jobs.
“Migration can be a positive thing for
the economy and society however we must
be doing more to ensure fairness in the
allocation of public resources and
housing so that British people do not
feel sidelined.”
