Malcolm Moss urges Government Review of the
National Carers Strategy
“We must ensure that
planned respite care for carers must not fall
prey to NHS deficits and PCT cost-shunting to
Local Councils.” Says Malcolm Moss MP
Malcolm Moss has
signed Parliamentary Early Day Motion 1340
concerning the review of the National Carers
Strategy in the hope that it will offer a
constructive critique of the delivery of the
strategy alongside challenges for the future.
Conservatives have
called on the Government to look into ways to
reduce the number of unclaimed carers benefits
as well as to give Child Carers Full
involvement, where appropriate in the healthcare
of those they care for. Additionally the party
has called on the Government to do more to
identify and support Child Carers. Lastly
Conservatives have called on the Government to
adjust the remit of The National Institute for
Health and Clinical Excellence which, when it
considers the relative merits of costs versus
benefits would help a great many carers looking
after friends and relatives.
Malcolm Moss MP
says:
“We all owe an
immense debt to carers. The work carers do is
unbelievable. Some give up jobs and careers.
Others balance work and caring - risking
exhaustion, stress, even illness. We must do
more to celebrate that work. Helping carers is
one of the best ways to help those they are
caring for.”
