PRESS RELEASE
17 April 2007
New NHS dentist practice for Wisbech
In a meeting he had
requested with Chris Banks the Chief Executive
and Maureen Donnelly the Chairman of the
Cambridgeshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) Malcolm
Moss MP was given good news for the residents of
North East Cambridgeshire on the two key issues
of access to NHS dentists and future NHS funding
in the area.
To address the over
subscription to NHS dentists in the area the PCT
provides a dental access service across Wisbech
for unregistered patients and is currently
preparing a business case to establish a new
practice in Wisbech.
Malcolm Moss MP
says:
“The PCT finally
recognise the problem with NHS dental provision
in the Wisbech area and have now made it a
priority over all other calls for dental
funding.”
The funding for
North East Cambridgeshire since the merger of
four Cambridgeshire PCT’s last year was also
discussed. The consensus was that the most
deprived areas will see their fair share of the
funding despite the merger.
Malcolm Moss MP
says:
“I was advised that
the PCT has a duty to reduce health inequalities
across Cambridgeshire and that the direction of
travel for investment would in broad terms
favour North East Cambridgeshire where the
health of the community, while broadly in line
with national averages, is not as good as most
other parts of the county.”
